Brian and his wife Mary Jo purchased both Ambrose and Squires Funeral Homes from Ed and Mary Heinlein in January of 2018. Brian had been the manager for the funeral homes since November of 1999. Brian and Mary Jo were married in 2017 and have blended their families together in Bangor Township. They have three daughters and one son who were involved in various sports, choir and theatre shows at John Glenn High School, The children now are persuing their careers at Michigan State University and Saginaw Valley State University.

Brian graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1990. Then on to Delta College and later graduated from Wayne State University Department of Mortuary Science in 1995. Working at a few different funeral homes throughout Plymouth, Westland, Detroit, Gaylord, Grand Blanc and Bay City.

Brian is a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church, usher at church, a charter member of St. Stanislaus Knights Columbus Council #12423, Bishop Murphy Assembly #0491 and Color Corps, Michigan Embalmers Society, St. George Society, Polish Falcons, Board of Directors for the ARC of Bay County, and We Honor Veterans Committe through Promedica Hospice.

Raylene Burley Licensed Funeral Director and Manager of Squires location

Raylene was raised in the Kawkawlin area and graduated from Bay City Western High School. She joined our team in 2021 after she graduated with a degree in Applied Science at Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Illinois. Raylene is nationally certified through the Cremation Association of North America and the Funeral Service Examining Boards. In the spring of 2022 Raylene received her full license as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in the State of Michigan.

 

In her spare time, she enjoys the rustic outdoors, camping, fishing and off roading with her side by side. She also enjoys family time, board games, bonfires and working on different projects.

John P. VanDenBoom Licensed Funeral Director

John is a native of the Munger area and is the youngest of five children. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music from Central Michigan University and has been a public school music teacher for 20 years. His teaching career begin in Fairview, Michigan before moving back to the Bay City area in 2003. He is currently employed by the Essexville-Hampton Public School District teaching elementary music. He taught vocal music at Garber High School and Cramer Junior High for 14 years, and directed numerous Garber Musicals before taking a sabbatical during the 2016-2017 school year. During that time he completed his studies in Mortuary Science from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and graduated in June of 2017. He received full licensure in the Great State of Michigan as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in August of 2017 and has been with Ambrose-Squires Funeral Homes since May of 2015. In his free time, John enjoys playing piano and organ around the Diocese of Saginaw and for his parish, Our Lady of Czestochowa – St. Stanislaus Kostka. He also enjoys bike riding, gardening, cooking, and evenings at home around the fire with family and friends.

Kirsten Turner Licensed Funeral Director

Kirsten comes to us as a 22 year licensed funeral director from a small community outside of the Tawas area where she and husband, Bob, are raising their two sons.  She was born and raised in West Branch, Michigan and found her calling when a young family member was tragically taken in an automobile accident in 1998.  In 1999, she left for mortuary school at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and graduated in 2000.  She has been employed in metro Detroit, Saginaw, Bay City, Au Gres, and Twining and looks forward to serving the Bay City community again.

In her spare time, Kirsten and Bob can be found on baseball fields all over the state of Michigan where both of their sons play for multiple teams including Tawas Area Varsity, Tawas Area Little League, Bay City Northwest Fall leagues, Saginaw Sugar Beets Spring and Fall leagues, and Ogemaw Orioles.  She also enjoys running in local and online charity events for Camp Fish Tales, Relay for Life, Covenant Kids, Stop Soldier Suicide, Breast Cancer Awareness, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Rick Glaza Office Manager

Born and raised in Michigan's Thumb, Rick joins our staff with over 33 years of experience in the funeral industry. He is the oldest of four siblings and started working for a funeral home in Ubly while attending high school and remained there up until August of 2021.

 

In his free time, Rick enjoys the outdoors with his two Labradors, Molly & Sadie, gardening, aerial photography with his drone business - Great Lakes Drone Works and being the public address announcer for the Ubly football and basketball programs. He also serves as a back-up announcer at Bay City John Glenn high school. Currently he is a resident of Essexville in Hampton Township.

Gene Andrzejewski Senior Funeral Assistant

Gene has been married to Marcine for 55 years. They have two children, Karen and John and seven grandchildren. Gene worked in broadcasting for 42 years with WKNX-TV, WBCM Radio and retired from WNEM-TV5. After retirement Gene starting working at the funeral homes in January of 2003. Lifetime Bay City resident, Gene was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church, St. Stanislaus Knights of Columbus Council #12423 and St. Stanislaus Food Pantry.

Bob Anthony Senior Funeral Assistant

Bob has been a member of our staff since 2004 after retiring from Carbone of America (formerly Ultra Carbon) as Product Marketing Manager for 30 years. Bob and his wife Clarice (Goik) have been married 58 years. They have four children, thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bob graduated from St. James High School in 1954 and received his Associate of Science Degree from Delta College. Bob and Clarice have been members of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Hyacinth Church for over 50 years. As a US Navy veteran, I personally invite our veterans and their families to come to our funeral homes and discuss your needs with us.

Bob will stay on staff with us after his retirement in June to assist all the families at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish.

Dave has been a member of our staff since 2007 after retiring from the Bosco Food Service as vice president and co-owner with 35 years of service in sales and management. Dave and his wife Cathy have been married for 46 years. They have three children and two grandchildren.

Tony retired from teaching and will fill in as a sub occasionally. He attended Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University. Tony and his wife Monty are proud grandparents to two granddaughters living in New York. He enjoys playing golf and is a big Detroit Tiger and Lions fan. Tony has been a part of our staff since 2012.

Eileen Casciano Funeral Assistant

Eileen joined our team at the end of 2022. She and her husband Phil have been married 30 years and they live in Kawkawlin with their cat Lucy. Together they have five children and 16 grandchildren. 

They regularly attend Grace Church in Bay City and keep busy volunteering for various functions at the church. 

In her spare time she enjoys having family gatherings, camping, baking and sewing.

Thomas Clements Senior Property Management and Funeral Assistant

Tom married Mary Ann on November 25, 1972. They have three daughters: Stephanie, Kathryn and Natalie, five grandchildren: Bradley, John “Jack”, Jacob, Joshua and Abigail. Tom was in the US Marine Corps and retired from Saginaw Metal Casting Operations after more than 40 years of service. Tom has been a part of our staff for ten years and can be often seen outside beautifying the properties with his green thumb.

Jeff grew up moving around the thumb area. He is married with 2 daughters and has been serving the community in public service for over 10 years. 

In his spare time Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, working out, and coaching his daughters sports teams.

Connie M. Kaczynski Funeral Assistant and Administrative

Connie resides in Bay City and is a graduate of Bay City Central High School. She retired in 2017 from the Diocese of Saginaw after 23 years of service as a secretary/receptionist. As a member of St. Gabriel Parish, Auburn, Connie has been involved as a lector, minister to the homebound, commissioned lay minister, and prior coordinator for initiation and adult formation. She has two children, one granddaughter, and three step-granddaughters. Connie enjoys reading, walking, movies, and spending time with family and friends. She joined the Ambrose and Squires staff in the summer of 2019. Retirement now allows her the time to use her ministry experience and skills serving within the Bay City community.

James A. McCarty Funeral Assistant/Transfer Specialist

James A. McCarty joined our staff in the fall of 2022. He is a husband as well as a father of two sons and one daughter. Between their children they have been blessed with four grandchildren and have enjoyed watching their family grow since 1991. He has run 14 marathons including two trips to the Boston Marathon. He is also an avid hockey watcher and a huge Detroit Red Wings fan.  His patient wife Sue has ran along with him, but not in the races. Sue retired from McLaren Hospice as the Hospice Volunteer coordinator and he followed her in retirement. Retiring after working as a sous chef in various Assisted Living facilities in the Bay Area.

Matt married his wife Alysha in December of 2012.  They have four children, which keep them very busy with sports and other extracurriculars.  Matt has been in Public Service since August of 2013 and has joined the team at Ambrose  and Squires Funeral Homes in January of 2020 as a Transfer Specialist and Funeral Assistant.

Michelle Schuch Transfer Specialist

Michelle is the proud mother of a blended family with four children.  She and her husband Scott were married on Leap Year Day in 2012, celebrating their anniversary every 4 years.  Michelle graduated from Bay City Western High School in 1995, and obtained her EMT license in 1999.  Through her years of experience, Michelle also aqcuired her certification for Emergency Medical Dispatch. With her history as a 911 Dispatcher and an EMT, her role at the funeral home is invaluable. Michelle is able to handle difficult situations with compassion and professionalism. Her training has given her the skills she needs to provide excellent service to families during their time of need.  She has joined our funeral home staff in January 2022.  In her spare time, she enjoys creating memories with her family and friends, as well as, knitting and crafting.

Scott Schuch Transfer Specialist

Scott, and his wife Michelle, have been married since 2012; blending their family with 4 children.  Scott graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1990, and was enlisted in the United States Navy from 1991-1995.  Continuing his passion for public service, he joined Bangor Township Fire Department as a Reserve Firefighter in 1996, after 10 years he turned it into his career. Through the years, he became a licensed paramedic, and still is.  His journey through public service shows his ability to provide comfort and solace to grieving families. We are grateful Scott joined our funeral home staff in January 2022. 

In his spare time, he enjoys time spent with family and friends, and the great outdoors: hunting, fishing, and camping.

Jim retired from General Motors 16 years ago and is a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He has been on staff at the funeral homes since 2011. Jim and his wife Joyce have four children.

Frank Sniecinski Funeral Assistant

Frank is a graduate of St. Stanislaus High School and DeVry Technical Institute. He has been married for 51 years to Christine and they are parents of four daughters. He is a retired electrician having worked at General Motors. Frank has been on our staff here at Ambrose and Squires Funeral Homes since 2013. He is currently involved with the Knights of Columbus and an avid Model Railroader.

Mike has been married to Linda for 45 years. They have two sons, Brian and Mark, three grandchildren: Eilee, Tatum and Avery. He served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era and was a Public Servant for 32 years before retiring in 2015. Mike has been with the funeral homes for over 27 years and loves helping people in need and consoling the grieving. In Mike’s word, “Ambrose/Squires is a family friendly funeral home and it is my pleasure and honor to work with all the staff.”

Mary Lou Solinski Senior Funeral Assistant

Mary Lou owned and operated Terminue Brake and Muffler Shop with her husband Jim for 35 years. After Jim passed away Mary Lou worked five more years and then it was time for their son Jeff to take over without his mother telling him what to do. Ed Heinlein asked Mary Lou to come work for him. Mary Lou was the first female to work funerals at the funeral homes. It took Ed 15 years to hire another one. In Mary Lou’s words, “I love my job, the most caring people to work with.”

John Spencer Senior Funeral Assistant

John has been married to Thurza for forty years. They have two daughters, Allegra Lynn and Elizabeth Marie. John was a very active member of Our Lady of Visitation Parish for over fifty years before its closing, where he sang in the choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Parish Council Member, Religious Education Teacher and Usher.

John received his Associate of Arts Degree (1974) in Law Enforcement from Delta College, a Bachelor of Arts Degree (1977) in Teaching from Saginaw Valley State University. He also has two Master of Arts Degrees, his first (1981) in School Administration from Central Michigan University and the second (2004) in School Counseling from the University of Detroit.

John enjoys playing golf, singing Barbershop and is a very Big Spartans fan. He joined the Ambrose and Squires family in August of 2012.

John retired from our active staff in June and will remain a part of our staff and family.

Barbara Tesner Clerical Secretary

Barb has been married to Jim for 55 years. They have two daughters, four grandchildren and two great grandsons, Eli and Roman and one great granddaughter Raven. Barb is a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, secretary of the Altar Society at church and volunteered at the funeral luncheons at church. She worked at the church as their secretary for ten years before coming to work at the funeral homes in 1999.

Outside of the funeral home, she is involved in the Food for Faith Program in the City and helps organize Tezzy's Tours Bus Trips around and outside of Michigan. In her spare time she  enjoys cooking, going to Dow Diamond for Loons games, and time with her family.

Paul has been married to Luann for 37 years. They have a son, Matt and his wife Amanda, one daughter Katie and a granddaughter. Paul retired from the Bay City Public Schools as an administrator and is a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. He has worked at the funeral homes since 2011.

Randy has been married to Kathy for 41 years.  They have two sons Jason and Kevin and four grandchildren.  Randy worked in public service for over 40 years retiring in September of 2018.

Randy graduated from Bay City Central in 1976 and has an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Delta College.

Randy and Kathy are members of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish- St. Stans.

Randy is also an adjunct instructor at Delta College in the Fire Science program.

Randy started working for Ambrose Squires in 2020 as a Transfer Specialist.

In their free time Randy and Kathy enjoy traveling, camping and fishing.

Tim has been married for 43 years to Karen. They have two daughters and one grandson. Tim retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and started working at the funeral homes in 2001. He attended Delta College and received an associates in Applied Science and also received a diploma from Stratford College for Funeral Service Management. On his time off, Tim enjoys playing golf.

Barbara resides in Kawkawlin with her husband Sam. She grew up in the Southend of Bay City graduating from Bay City All Saints. She is a LPN and has worked in the healthcare field for 44 years and is currently employed as the Manager of Donor Services for Michigan Blood. Barbara has 3 children and 4 grandchildren. She is a member of the St Catherine of Siena Parish. Barbara joined the Ambrose-Squire team in October of 2017.

Sharon was born and raised in Indiana and currently resides in Bay City. She is a member of Corpus Christi Parish and is employed part time at St Francis de Sales Parish in Bridgeport. Sharon is also a Missioned Lay Minister for the Diocese of Saginaw and procurator for the Diocesan Marriage Tribunal. She has two children and three grandchildren. In her free time, Sharon loves playing golf, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.

Connie resides in Bay City and is a graduate of Bay City Central High School. She retired in 2017 from the Diocese of Saginaw after 23 years of service as a secretary/receptionist. As a member of St. Gabriel Parish, Auburn, Connie has been involved as a lector, minister to the homebound, commissioned lay minister, and prior coordinator for initiation and adult formation. She has two children, one granddaughter, and three step-granddaughters. Connie enjoys reading, walking, movies, and spending time with family and friends. She joined the Ambrose and Squires staff in the summer of 2019. Retirement now allows her the time to use her ministry experience and skills serving within the Bay City community.

James A. McCarty

James A. McCarty joined our staff in the fall of 2022. He is a husband as well as a father of two sons and one daughter. Between their children they have been blessed with four grandchildren and have enjoyed watching their family grow since 1991. He has run 14 marathons including two trips to the Boston Marathon. He is also an avid hockey watcher and a huge Detroit Red Wings fan.  His patient wife Sue has ran along with him, but not in the races. Sue retired from McLaren Hospice as the Hospice Volunteer coordinator and he followed her in retirement. Retiring after working as a sous chef in various Assisted Living facilities in the Bay Area. 

 

Matt Reszke

Matt married his wife Alysha in December of 2012.  They have four children, which keep them very busy with sports and other extracurriculars.  Matt has been in Public Service since August of 2013 and has joined the team at Ambrose  and Squires Funeral Homes in January of 2020 as a Transfer Specialist and Funeral Assistant.

Michelle Schuch

Michelle is the proud mother of a blended family with four children.  She and her husband Scott were married on Leap Year Day in 2012, celebrating their anniversary every 4 years.  Michelle graduated from Bay City Western High School in 1995, and obtained her EMT license in 1999.  Through her years of experience, Michelle also aqcuired her certification for Emergency Medical Dispatch. With her history as a 911 Dispatcher and an EMT, her role at the funeral home is invaluable. Michelle is able to handle difficult situations with compassion and professionalism. Her training has given her the skills she needs to provide excellent service to families during their time of need.  She has joined our funeral home staff in January 2022.  In her spare time, she enjoys creating memories with her family and friends, as well as, knitting and crafting.

Scott Schuch

Scott, and his wife Michelle, have been married since 2012; blending their family with 4 children.  Scott graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1990, and was enlisted in the United States Navy from 1991-1995.  Continuing his passion for public service, he joined Bangor Township Fire Department as a Reserve Firefighter in 1996, after 10 years he turned it into his career. Through the years, he became a licensed paramedic, and still is.  His journey through public service shows his ability to provide comfort and solace to grieving families. We are grateful Scott joined our funeral home staff in January 2022. 

In his spare time, he enjoys time spent with family and friends, and the great outdoors: hunting, fishing, and camping.

Jim Schumann

Jim retired from General Motors 16 years ago and is a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He has been on staff at the funeral homes since 2011. Jim and his wife Joyce have four children.

Frank Sniecinski

Frank is a graduate of St. Stanislaus High School and DeVry Technical Institute. He has been married for 51 years to Christine and they are parents of four daughters. He is a retired electrician having worked at General Motors. Frank has been on our staff here at Ambrose and Squires Funeral Homes since 2013. He is currently involved with the Knights of Columbus and an avid Model Railroader.

Mike Socia

Mike has been married to Linda for 45 years. They have two sons, Brian and Mark, three grandchildren: Eilee, Tatum and Avery. He served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era and was a Public Servant for 32 years before retiring in 2015. Mike has been with the funeral homes for over 27 years and loves helping people in need and consoling the grieving. In Mike’s word, “Ambrose/Squires is a family friendly funeral home and it is my pleasure and honor to work with all the staff.”

Mary Lou Solinski

Mary Lou owned and operated Terminue Brake and Muffler Shop with her husband Jim for 35 years. After Jim passed away Mary Lou worked five more years and then it was time for their son Jeff to take over without his mother telling him what to do. Ed Heinlein asked Mary Lou to come work for him. Mary Lou was the first female to work funerals at the funeral homes. It took Ed 15 years to hire another one. In Mary Lou’s words, “I love my job, the most caring people to work with.”

John Spencer

John has been married to Thurza for forty years. They have two daughters, Allegra Lynn and Elizabeth Marie. John was a very active member of Our Lady of Visitation Parish for over fifty years before its closing, where he sang in the choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Parish Council Member, Religious Education Teacher and Usher.

John received his Associate of Arts Degree (1974) in Law Enforcement from Delta College, a Bachelor of Arts Degree (1977) in Teaching from Saginaw Valley State University. He also has two Master of Arts Degrees, his first (1981) in School Administration from Central Michigan University and the second (2004) in School Counseling from the University of Detroit.

John enjoys playing golf, singing Barbershop and is a very Big Spartans fan. He joined the Ambrose and Squires family in August of 2012.

John retired from our active staff in June and will remain a part of our staff and family.

Barbara Tesner

Barb has been married to Jim for 55 years. They have two daughters, four grandchildren and two great grandsons, Eli and Roman and one great granddaughter Raven. Barb is a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, secretary of the Altar Society at church and volunteered at the funeral luncheons at church. She worked at the church as their secretary for ten years before coming to work at the funeral homes in 1999.

Outside of the funeral home, she is involved in the Food for Faith Program in the City and helps organize Tezzy's Tours Bus Trips around and outside of Michigan. In her spare time she  enjoys cooking, going to Dow Diamond for Loons games, and time with her family. 

 

Paul Travis

Paul has been married to Luann for 37 years. They have a son, Matt and his wife Amanda, one daughter Katie and a granddaughter. Paul retired from the Bay City Public Schools as an administrator and is a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. He has worked at the funeral homes since 2011.

Randy VanDenBoom

Randy has been married to Kathy for 41 years.  They have two sons Jason and Kevin and four grandchildren.  Randy worked in public service for over 40 years retiring in September of 2018.

Randy graduated from Bay City Central in 1976 and has an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Delta College.

Randy and Kathy are members of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish- St. Stans.

Randy is also an adjunct instructor at Delta College in the Fire Science program.

Randy started working for Ambrose Squires in 2020 as a Transfer Specialist.

In their free time Randy and Kathy enjoy traveling, camping and fishing.

Cyndi and her husband Mike live in Hampton Township, they have three children: Michael and Sarah at home and Jessica (Mike) who live in Grand Blanc. Cyndi has been with the funeral homes since 2017

Tim Wolter

Tim has been married for 43 years to Karen. They have two daughters and one grandson. Tim retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and started working at the funeral homes in 2001. He attended Delta College and received an associates in Applied Science and also received a diploma from Stratford College for Funeral Service Management. On his time off, Tim enjoys playing golf.

Barb Yahn

Barbara resides in Kawkawlin with her husband Sam. She grew up in the Southend of Bay City graduating from Bay City All Saints. She is a LPN and has worked in the healthcare field for 44 years and is currently employed as the Manager of Donor Services for Michigan Blood. Barbara has 3 children and 4 grandchildren. She is a member of the St Catherine of Siena Parish. Barbara joined the Ambrose-Squire team in October of 2017.

Sharon Woolhiser

Sharon was born and raised in Indiana and currently resides in Bay City. She is a member of Corpus Christi Parish and is employed part time at St Francis de Sales Parish in Bridgeport. Sharon is also a Missioned Lay Minister for the Diocese of Saginaw and procurator for the Diocesan Marriage Tribunal. She has two children and three grandchildren. In her free time, Sharon loves playing golf, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.
